MACHRIE HOTEL & GOLF LINKS

Isle of Islay, Scotland

THE MACHRIE HOTEL AND GOLF LINKS IS SET WITHIN THE MAGNIFICENT SCENERY OF LAGGAN BAY, AND IS RENOWNED AS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL LOCATIONS IN WORLD GOLF.

The Machrie takes its name from the Gaelic word Machair, which means ‘The Links'. Set in the dunes of Islay, and designed in 1891 by Willie Campbell, it is the traditional Scottish links. Planet Golf rates The Machrie as a strong candidate to join its list of the top 100 courses on Earth and says its magnificent Hebridean bay is one of the most beautiful locations in world golf.

The hotel itself is part refurbishment and part new build with an additional 18 rooms added to the original 27. The new restaurant, terrace and bar has spectacular views over Laggan Bay along with the 8 lodges and sea view rooms.

The style of the hotel, nicknamed ‘McScandi’ by the client and design team, is a beautiful mix of Scottish colours and textures along with the clean lines of the Scandinavean design ethic. The stunning views suffused with the natural light and beautiful scenery offers guests plenty to explore while the hotel completes the Islay experience.
