THE HOTEL PHOENICIA IS THE OLDEST AND PERHAPS MOST GLAMOROUS FIVE STAR HOTEL IN MALTA AND NOW HAS A BRAND NEW SPA TO COMPLETE THE LUXURY EXPERIENCE.

 

Located next to the hotel the new purpose built spa building is accessed through the hotel main entrance and reception. The transition from the classic building into the new modern spa is sensitively done as the existing exterior wall of the hotel forms part of the interior creating a marriage of old meets new throughout the spa.

Formed out of the staff car park and deliveries entrance the excavation revealed a medieval wall dating back to the 16th century which we then incorporated into the scheme. These fortifications formed a spine throughout the spa and were visible from almost all viewing points from the changing rooms to the pool. 

 

Consisting of a main reception area with retail, juice bar, five treatment rooms including one double treatment room, a large gym, sauna, steam and salt room, experience showers and pool the spa provides a genuine space for relaxation. By using materials such as Maltese stone and walnut throughout the spaces feel warm and modern yet timeless and sophisticated. The pool is bathed in sunlight and with the magnificent 16th century fortifications, built by the Order of St John, running through the spa has a direct feeling of time and place. You could only be in Malta!
